South Walsham Outer Broad

Traditionally, there has been a buoy placed in the Outer Broad that acts as a turning mark for the race. There is a view of this point from the small public staithe.

There is a car park, with a limited number of spaces, found on the left as you approach the Broad, from which the staithe is only a short walk.

In 2009 the mark was moved to a point on Fleet Dyke about 150m from the Broad. The editors have had a report that the mark will be placed in a similar position in 2010. You may need to walk through the boatyard and beyond on the footpath beside the dyke for the best view of the race.

Fleet Dyke

Fleet Dyke is the access from the River Bure to South Walsham, it is narrow and winding, making for potentially exciting sailing. There is a footpath from the car park mentioned above which runs all the way to the Bure itself, giving good views at several places where there are 24hr moorings.
